Brussels, April 9, 2025 – The Free University of Brussels (ULB), one of Belgium’s most prominent academic institutions, hosted a distinguished conference dedicated to Magtymguly Pyragy, ethe celebrated Turkmen poet and thinker, Alisher Navoi and the Timurid Renaissance.
The lecture was delivered by Derya Soysal, a scholar specializing in Turkic literatures, who presented an insightful analysis of Magtymguly’s intellectual legacy and his role in shaping the literary and cultural identity of the Turkic world.
The event drew notable international attention. The ambassadors of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as diplomats from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Hungary, attended the lecture. Their presence underscored the shared cultural reverence for Magtymguly Pyragy as a unifying figure in Turkic heritage and intellectual history.
This conference forms part of a broader effort to promote Turkmen literature and its universal values within European academic circles.
